Ed Barsano retired from Microsoft in 1995 after working there for more than seven years. He made a goal of investing and managing his own stock portfolio. By 2001, he was attempting to combine his investments knowledge with his expertise in software development in order to develop and then distribute a neural network-based buy/sell stock trading system. This system soon became popular with local professional day trading outfits.

Ed Barsano then took advantage of the advancements in personal computers and Internet connectivity to develop an automated trading platform called CoolTrade. In 2004, he formed CoolTrade, Inc. in order to further refine the product so that the technology would allow for a worldwide release for individual investors. Today, CoolTrade is supported by industry leading brokerage firms all over the world and customers in more than sixty countries.
